We are in love with Sarah’s beautiful balanced style to create a relaxed & flowing living space to entertain friends & family.

We chat to Sarah about her key choices creating her first home, the pieces and style she’s chosen to add warmth & texture to embrace relaxed Country Living.

Tell us about your home and what makes it personal to you.

I’m extremely grateful to call my first home a 2 bed mid terraced cottage in the Cotswolds town of Tetbury. Since becoming an interior photographer in the cotswolds 3 years ago I fell in love with Tetbury and said to all my friends and family ‘one day I’ll move there’ - little did I know that would be my first home. It’s extremely personal to me as I actually photographed the property to be put on the market, and instantly fell in love with the cottage, the owners, the decor and could picture myself living there.

How would you describe your interior style?

I’d say my style is modern/country but I’ve been told there’s a slight coastal feel, I think that’s because of the tones I’ve chosen. The neutrals and blues are something that make me feel relaxed and at ease so I’ve run with this scheme in the main room with a blue accent wall. I mix antique items with new, for example elm milking stools and my bargain cement lamp - it’s all in the details.

Do you have a favourite room? What makes it special?

My favourite room has to be the open plan living and dining room. Mainly because of the log burner in the living area, during winter it’s so cosy having the fire on in the evening with a glass of wine (the holiday kind of vibe). I’ve placed my beautiful Jord Home rug in front of the fire & it’s so reassuring to know it’s machine washable in case of any wine spillages! It’s also such a social space, when I have friends and family over, the flow of the downstairs makes it such a hearty and happy space. Whenever people come over they say how relaxed they feel when they walk through the door, think this is mainly because of walking straight into the living space.

What one piece of design/styling advice would you give?

Mainly I’d say you don’t always need to buy new to create the style and look you’re after. I’ve got many pieces and decor items from charity shops, Facebook marketplace and word of mouth. I’ve always liked mixing high end items with rustic/antique pieces which is the exact style of the cottage, rustic and quaint on the outside and inside it’s slightly more modern. I’d also say, always style the way you love - don’t think ‘I need to style it this way so I’ll be able to sell my home in the future’ or ‘this is on trend so have to style it this way’ - you are the one living in your home and space so make sure it’s a space you feel safe, happy and relaxed in, of course getting inspired and influenced by trends and other accounts on social platforms but DO YOU!

What piece from Jord Home do you have your eye on?

I’m fortunate enough to own a few items from Jord Home . I adore the oyster sheepskin rug - it’s so soft and cosy . I also have the Sophie chevron oatmeal rug and love that it’s a sustainable choice made from cotton ….  I currently have my eye on Rarebreed Tibetan Sheepskin in dove grey, the sophistication of the tone and texture of this product is second to none, you can tell the quality is just as amazing as the other rugs/sheepskins I own. Hoping to get my hands on it very soon!
