We are thrilled to catch up with Steph - her and her husband have created the most delightful family home, full of timeless character & cosiness for their young family .
They have harnessed the traditional & rustic features of their home & created a beautiful restful palette that is a joy to raise their family in .
1. Tell us about your home and what makes it personal to you?
We live in a 500-600 year old stone Bastle house in the countryside. It will always be very special to us as it was our first home together as husband and wife and where our 2 and 4 year olds have been brought up. This was always going to be a do-upper project to sell on, but we’ve poured so much love into it think we’ll struggle to part with it now. 
2. How would you describe your interior style?
I would say ‘English rustic’? It’s Earthy and pared back but I do love traditional English elements like shaker style cupboards and antique furniture. I always struggle with this question as I love so many different interior styles! However I do believe in choosing a style and sticking to it in your home, so that there is flow and connection through the house.
3. Do you have a favourite room? What makes it special?
I love our kitchen diner, it’s where we spend most of our time, and especially in winter when the log burner is on there is such coziness. Most of our cottage gets quite dark in winter but this room remains the brightest room in the house. I love our Jord Home Jute rug under the dining table to help zone the open plan
4. What one piece of design/styling advice would you give?
Sometimes the way you find out what works in your home (and in my case) is just by trial and error. So take time in designing and styling your home rather than rushing it for the sake of getting it finished. I’ve made a lot of mistakes with paint colours for example, going from cool greys, which just jarred with the natural wood and stone, to now warmer neutrals that paired perfectly with those features. A piece of advice is that you really can’t go wrong by choosing natural materials for your home, like Jute, Wool, wood, stone.
5. What piece from Jord home do you have your eye on?
I’ve got my eye on a beautiful sheepskin, I just think there’s nothing better in winter than having one thrown oven the dining bench seat or over the back of an armchair.
